vanos filter change..how often?

hope this hasn't been done to death on here so apologies if it's been covered a thousand times!Want to change the filters/bolts on single vanos 3.0,has anyone done this and how difficult/expensive is it?

Never done it on a 3.0 but the S50 3.2 is simple, borrow a torc rench to get them done up right. The bolts were £25 ish and the filter was £5 ish from BMW. IMO do the filter on every oil change, just for piece of mind

I was told just to clean the filter which is what i do ever oil change.

Its easy.

take this out of there,



...and replace with a fresh one.



They cost £5 and I changed it ever service and cleaned it every oil change (4k miles)

Just be careful in tightening it up, the bolts are 8N/m and the filter is 12N/m..

Helpful thread ta. I see the filter in the pics, what is the bolts you are all mentioning to replace?

The filter is a bolt - it comes as one piece. Its just called, somewhat misleadingly, a bolt.
