E36 M3 3.0 values

Guys, a friend of mine is selling his E36 M3 3.0. the car has 80k on the clock with fbmwsh and two owners from new. It is red with cloth/alcantara interior
The paint is quite faded and there are one or two rust spots on the arches and the back of the car, also the wheels need a refurb.

Im quite tempted to buy it for a track car, what would be a decent price to pay for the car?

Offer 2K . Though its a low miler, he will struggle to sell if its got bad paint and rust.

Ps, check the fuel and brake lines under the car, as they have a habit of rusting, and its not a small job

He is looking to trade it in agaisnt a TVR Tuscan so maybe see what the trade offers him and match that if its low enough.

If you didn't want to buy it yourself, I'd advise him to buff it, and get it looking smart again, then sell on.

Anything less than £3k is a bargain to you though

Faded red paint will be sorted by T-Cut easily & cheaply.

Yeah I think a good bit of elbow grease will make it look much better, the car was immaculate when he bought it so im sure its just a lack of tlc thats got it looking a bit sorry for itself.

Don't say that, walk round the car and say.. thats wrong, that needs doing, you'll never sell that. I'll give you 2K for it though.

How much would it cost to get the bodywork up to good condition? Ditto the original alloys? (£80 a corner?).

Also a little worried about the bit where you state when he bought it it was in prestine condition but now after his ownership it needs a little TLC.... BUT it also has a FBMWSH. So did BMW suggest the extra work and he just ignore the advice and only get the std service items done & good enough for MOT?

Is the suspension shot?

Mechanically the car is in good order and has not been scrimped on, the guy does like his cars but just doesnt spend as much time keeping them clean/polished.
