Hi All,

My wife has finally agreed to let me purchase a new exhaust for my 1986 E30 M3 (instead of a new fitted wardrobe (for her stuff)). I have asked my local Main Dealer (Sytner) plus several others (C3BMW etc) and they seems to be only able to supply the Back Box and I would like to renew the whole thing.

I was wondering about this unit (link below). Although, I have heard Milltek are not the most reliable (splitting etc) My M3 is only used on the road as my daily drive to school.

So therefore, Is it any good? Will it fit? Will it be too loud? Are there any better alternatives?

Regards

David

There are some wonderful systems available, how much do you wish to spend and what are you hoping to hear?

Hi Guys,

I was hoping to pay around £500 inc VAT & Delivery. And if Milltek do come with a 'Lifetime Guarantee' that would be fab as the company selling the Milltek in the link (on Ebay) above is not far down the road from me in here in Sheffield.

As for sound....more powerful sounding rather than loud really and if it delivered a bit extra BHP that would be cool also. I believe although I am not certain that the Milltek delivers both of these?

Thank you for your replies so far.

Regards

David

There is a chap on s14power.com, goes by the screen name of LuckyM3, he sells complete systems in full stainless. Purchasers, track and road users, have given nothing but positive feedback.

Milltek have been known to crack around the centre section but do come with a good warranty, although they do reduce ground clearance due to the larger diameter single pipe.

I am relatively new to the world of bmw, but wanted to mention that milltek have an excellent name in the vw/audi aftermarket circles. they also spend ££'s on r&d to get performance gains matched with a distinctive sound. you couldnt beat the milltek zorst for the r32 i used to own... there was simply no other comparison!!

Thanks E30M3SE (and everyone else), I have been in touch with Oliver (LuckyM3) the problem is he is in Germany and only accepts Paypal or Bank Transfer and my wife (who is paying) won't go for it unfortunately.

I do like to support people who can be bothered get up off their ar**s and make something excellent but in this case I will have to go for the Milltek, with the bonus that the supplier is just down the road from me.

i have this system fitted to my car and am happy with it. if you purchase the system you will get a lifetime guarantee, but this is not transferable to another owner. i have had no clearance issues and i think the sound(which is really not that loud)suits the car. there were some early issues with center sections splitting but this has now been rectified.

The original system on my E30 M3 lasted 19 years until the back box failed. It was £1100 IIRC for a new manifold back system from BMW.

Be careful with the Milltek one, brackets tend to snap off alot. Eisenmann is the daddy.
