Warranty, Insurance,tracker.tax all up! Help!!
Discussion
Just coming to the end of my first year running the M3. I absolutely love it. It reminds me so much of my husband. fast, makes me smile, incredibly good looking, but crap round the shops. Unfortunately all the bills have arrived through the letterbox at the same time.
Can't do anything about the road tax. But could do with some advice about whether to renew the warranty. The car is a 53 plate with 63,000, purchased from a main dealer. BMW are a offering to renew warranty for £835.00.
Zenith Insurance are quoting £888.27 with £500 excess. fully comp Husband and spouse policy, 10 years no claims. One Sp 30. Asking for tracker to be renewed.
I would be grateful to know of any other insurance companies to try for a competitive price.
Thanks

In the same boat!
I've paid the road tax (no choice there!) and decided to extend the warranty with BMW on the basis companies like Warranty Direct were no cheaper. I'm still shopping around for insurance at the moment and my current best is from Performance Direct (£482 fully comp, also with a £500 excess); doubt I'll do much better than that but if anyone thinks different I'm happy to listen!

Thanks for that information, i'll give them a call today
You are welcome.Just thought I'd reiterate on the warranty bit:
As far as I am aware, once there is a break in the warranty it is impossible to get the car back on it. You can go through a BMW used car approved check then slap a used car warranty on it, but it will be infereior to the one you have now. I would have thought that when it comes to reselling, a car with manuf's warranty will attract a nice premium too.
If I were you, I would borrow money if I had to but renew that warranty.
I'd say try some indy's. I got a great quote on a 911 from Adrian Flux.
I'm coming to despise the mainstream insurance companies and the comparison sites. They give the illusion of competitive pricing, but the fine print on the policies mean you're generally done up like a kipper!
I mean an excess of £150-£250 was fairly normal but now in the blink of an eye that has become the voluntary excess and they add on a compulsory one of £500+ !!
Do yourself a favour and phone some independants and stay away from the compare sites - Don't feed the machine!

Try Privilege for insurance, by far the cheapest i found! Got a 2000 E39 M5. Full NCB, clean license etc. 29 years old, named driver is the mrs who is 27. £710 per year. Was getting quotes of £1300+ off the comparison sites. have had numerous cars insured with them, excess is £350 i think?? Worth a go anyway!
Just had a huge shock!! Letter from BMW Re: warranty quoted £835, called to renew and because the car has just over 60,000 quoted £1926.00. Now that's just taking the P!!! That's more than doubled just because it's got 4000 more miles. I can understand an increase, but surley that can't be right. Looks like I won't be renewing.

As I've said before, try www.kwik-fitinsurance.com. for an ///M car. They DON'T require a Tracker fitted, they are competitive (cheapest), you get a free MOT within 12 months of taking out the policy, a 10% off card - & most importantly, for an annual payment of about £37 you can insure your Excess to reduce it by £500 should you need to claim. A total no-brainer if the required excess is £750+ - which it will be on an ///M car......

Your warranty quote is wrong. Over 60k miles it's 2k.
Ring them and check.
She did, as above.Ring them and check.
Its over £2k with no excess but thats for fully comp.
IMO, driveline will do, which may be more competitive.

They quoted me over double what I'm paying and still wanted a tracker, I think it depends on your specific history and where you live. I used Adrian Flux, by far the cheapest for me and didn't need a tracker. The Milfman said:
