Got that time to get a new car feeling - saw a new shape M3 today and decided it ticks some boxes.

What's the preferred spec? I checked on BMW used car search and all the cars seem to be manual, I thought they would be SMG. I had SMG with an M3 CSL and didn't really like it, but assumed it's moved on since then.

Is it E90 or E92? Don't want 4 doors, want the coupe, and used not new.

Also read somewhere that adaptive damping is imperative, just wondered if anyone can recommend the best spec?

Any help much appreciated..

The E9* M3 is DCT, not SMG. I've not driven one yet, but from what I hear, it is leagues ahead of the SMG.

WRT the other questions, there's lot of threads on M3's on here, its worth having a read and then asking any unanswered questions after that.

Supposed to be an incredible car though, so good luck!

OK, DCT, sounds good.

What's with the E90/92?

Hello mate - going for the M3 rather than a nice M6? :-)

Missus feels ill every time we all go out in mind (not my driving HONEST!) She doesn't get it when in M mode but then M mode is too harsh for family pootling. Don't know why it's happening she's never suffered from travel sickness... never mind!!

Might even end up having to change the M6 for something else... TRULY GUTTED :-(

E92 it is then.

Dubbs, is that a thumb print? Will investigate on Friday night!

Do you mind waiting a couple of months so I can find a good one before you? Please? wink

Hope you can make it, quite a few old faces there (well... certainly not young anymore!) including Pikey, Dan, Ted, etc., should be a damn fine gathering :-)

I wouldn't worry about me finding one - I'll have changed my mind by the morning!
