well i have used both baymow and bmtec for my ///M3 evo, I know the OP mentioned his is an ///M5. but im a pickie so and so...
baymow told me they dont like working on m cars!! believe it or not.... had to plead with them to take the scorpion exhaust off my motor and put the original back on. which they eventually did and were pretty nice guys (i think they did it on a sat morning), didnt mind me hanging out either.
have used bmtec- they are ok and do a better than ave job, but Andy the owner is a bit grumpy at times and has his own way of doing things, tho he is a nice enough bloke, he isnt really that much of a people person. he doesnt really like you hanging about watching, which i always like to do....lol
dont know about autotech in sale, must be newish---- as i have had my ///m a few years and researched indi's in manchester a few times, yet never heard of them. what are they like?
to be honest, i swear by my current mechanic, his name is Darren and he is a bmw master tech who has set up on his own, (he is currently based in poynton). he has worked in blue bells and williams for 12 years and is the nicest most trustworthy mechanic i have ever met. he has real pride in his work and frankly i wouldnt take my car anywear else. (he also works on a number of private police cars including the head of GMP 330ci). finally he has never overcharged me for ANYTHING, indeed my bill for the last service 2 was so cheap, i was embarrassed and gave him extra as i had known how hard he had worked on it. I wont post his personal mobile number on here, but by all means if you would like it i am happy to email it you, just let me know :-)

Try Northwest BMW in Horwich.
Had an oil service on my E39 M5. Bought my own Castrol RS oil and K&N filter. They charged me £80.50 inc vat for the oil and filter change, and also a brake fluid change.
Think their inspection services start at about £250 ish, but dont quote me!!
