So what are the stats on these? There was a rather camp convertable on the road today and if I'm not mistaken it was not far off M3 quick to 70...?

Just checked out the BMW website..

135i 5.4 to 60 (306hp)

E92 M3 4.8 to 60 (420hp)

Thats mighty impressive on the part of the 135i. Wonder what she does with a remap redface

They weigh about the same as the 335i so if you can find some times for chipped versions of that car it'll be about the same..

Being a turbo the 135s torque hit will happen much earlier in the rev range which has obvious advantages. An M3 should outdrag one as soon as it get past 6k on the rev counter.

True. They are so close that the "camp" 135i is actually slightly heavier than the 335i coupe, although it's much lighter than the "camp" 335i due to the latter's hard-top.

Slightly off-thread (and off-forum), the odd thing is that, despite the similarities between the 1 series and 3 series MSport coupes, they feel completely different to drive. The 1 series feels much more nimble and raw IMHO. Not sure if this is due to the slightly shorter wheelbase, the slightly narrower tyres, any suspension differences or what, but there is a very noticeable difference.
