BMW fitted new steering rack parts missing?

Just had a new steering rack fitted at BMW. I felt the car was pulling very slightly to the left and noticed slight feathering on the nearside front tyre. So I took the car back to BMW. They MOT'D the car and checked the steering out. Apparently everthing is ok, suggesting that I must have curbed the car or it may be pulling due to the camber on the roads? Took the car to a specialist in wheel alignment. Slight adjustment required, but the technician noticed that two clips off the steering rack were missing. These are the clips apparently that you need to adjust, to allow you to set the tracking. He described them as Jubilee type clips with rubber gaters that need to be loosend before you can do any adjustments. Do I need to get back to BMW to get these put back, or are they not needed? !!
