Hiya,

I'm currently dabbling with the idea of an E60 M5 as a daily runner,

With prices being what they are there at the stage where there almost irresistable.

Question is i haven't actually drove, or for that matter been in one.

Are they any good?

And also what should look for in buying one?

Thanks in Advance

no, they are rubbish. rolleyes

There are hundreds of reviews, man. There is this thing called Google.

Of course they are good. They are bloody fantastic and now they are amazing value. They have an utterly fantastic engine, a great chassis, not very good brakes and very good steering for a big saloon. They accelerate in a lunatic manner, particularly above 100 mph.

Hi,

What sort of age are you looking at?

My Bro bought one just over a year ago. He was strongly advised, above all else, to make sure it had a warranty. While they're pretty solid cars, they do go wrong and when they do, they can have big bills. So, start by making sure it has a warranty.

After that, he was advised not to buy an early one - 05 or early 55 - as a large number of these had been dealer demo's and been ragged (IMO, they're designed with being ragged in mind, so should be fine, so long as they've been well looked after).

Other than that, buy as good a spec as you can find. Its a personal choice, but I'd be looking for one with Logic 7, Comfort access, full merino (sp) leather, FULL history, and signs that the current owner is a caring car nut.

I would also suggest doing a search on here and taking a look at www.mtorque.co.uk and www.m5board.com.

Good luck in your search, they're unbelievalble cars.

I got mine on Thursday and all I can say is WOW! It truly is an amazing car, by far the best I have owned, and that is saying something if you look at the car history in my profile!

I can agree with the comments above, try and get a high spec 2006 example with as many toys as you can, and expect to pay just over £30k for a decent example.

Mine came fully loaded, with full history and 12 months BMW warranty which is essential on these cars IMHO.

If you want anymore info just let me know, I'm still in the "honeymoon period" but will try and answer questions unbiased! Lol smile
