M3 detailed by KDS
Discussion
I posted this on mtorque and chose to do so here as well as KDS Keltec deserves all the recognition he can get:
I finally booked my car in for a detail with Kelly at KDS. I researched detailing world, pistonheads and every other forum I could for detailers in the South East, and none of them gave me more confidence in their ability than Kelly.
I chose to leave the car with him after his huge posts on PH as well as the amount of detail on his website. He had my car for 2 weeks, during which he also sorted out a dent, resprayed the whole front bumper and also fixed a slightly deformed rear bumper which I failed to spot when purchasing the car (BMW® Oxford knew it was there and had hoped the buyer wouldn't notice it seems...). I had other quotes for the bumper but Kelly was the cheapest and knew what he was talking about on the phone. In fact, BMW® Taplow recommended that I get into an "accident" then claim on the insurance as the only way they could repair it would be to replace it (around £1000 all in was the quote)
2 weeks, a 170 mile round trip and this was the result!

And a video which is provided by Kelly with every car detailed

I promise to post lots of pics as soon as I get back from Kent. I I specifically mentioned getting rid of the "orange peel" effect to Kelly and although it'll take time, he assures me that the paint will look perfectly smooth when it's finished. And he'll show me how to look after it properly - can't ask for more really. My car's going to look stunning!!! Can't wait!

Hi guys
This is clearly a very big problem for the latest Bmw's
I had a long chat on the phone early last year with publisher of a couple of Bmw mags , He was running one of the first M3's in the country (red one)
on loan of course ..
He said that there was no way if he paid for the car with his own money he would of excepted the car ...
I have now been contacted by a VW mag from same publishing house over the same finsh on VW's ..
Now the fact that j-p and 2 over bmw owmers contacted on the same day (yesterday) over the same problem (Bmw's paint protection finish "orange peel") , then on the same day late in the evening a customer drove 200 miles just too show me his brand new black X5 "orange peel" shows that for some people its clearly not right !
So 4 customers in one day asking to remove orange peel seems a hell of a lot for such a small company !
The strange thing is the paint depth reading on the X5 were all over the place .
The total depth of paint range was 100 mircons - 160 microns with areas of the car looking very smooth and flat and others looking pretty much satin with so much orange peel..
I am going to try my hardest (time dependant it can take hours taking loads of photos trying to focus on orange peel) to us the X5 as a case study measuring through out the process of wet sanding with photos , this is because the customer has spoke to the dealership who sold the car about paying towards the process or part payment !!
I dont think he is a PH member but not sure so will keep you posted !

Why is it so strange when both the BMW Z4 & X5 are built by drunken "Red-Necks" at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA? (been there & seen the sloppy practices). They probably painted these cars after a lunchtime Klu Klux Klan lynching.....
