I charge £400 as a specialist

If you go main dealer give cotswold bmw gloucester 01452872600 a call-they were doing them at £650 all in...im sure thats still the case

I would not even go near a main dealer these days. The chances of them actually adjusting the valve clearences are so slim I stick to indies I know will actually do it

These days?

Hmmm

When I had the E36 M3 (02'-03') I was far from impressed with mina dealer service and in my case (West country) ended up going to Ajec in Gloucester, far superior service from guys who (at that time) spent more time under the bonnet of M Power's than most Main's

After having a conversation with the service dept of a main agent today who told me the bearing recall issue on E46 M3's only effected 2001 M3's jester, I think I'll be taking mine (when I find it!) to an indy

In his absence I can answer for him as it's the same bloke as I do:

Phil Crouch. The man really knows his onions, as well as his M cars and Alpinas.

Highly recommended.

There's only one other (besides Phil Crouch) down south that I'd let touch any of mine and that's Darjac Racing in the Braintree/Colchester/Sudbury triangle (CO6 postcode).

Don't know how far into north London you are though, so Darjac may be a bit distant for you.

His contact number is 07807689538 - tell him 'mmm-five' recommended him and I'll force some commission out of him wink

Gary @ Autobahn in Rickmansworth....is as good as anybody...Phil C and him have worked together and Gary really knows his stuff, valve clearances included. Costs somewhere around £50 an hours and does a huge number of M cars and Alpina's too.

There are a couple of garages near Heathrow that do some good work too as do Bexley Motor Works in Bexley SE London.

Where are you located?

Thorney Motorsport know their M3s and CSLs and I would trust him to do all the work stated on the inspection sheet. The waiting room also has a massive glass window so you can see the work being done on your car, although you may not want to sit there and watch an entire Insp1/2!!!

I currently have the CSL in at Wellsway BMW Bath as it is on extended warranty. Adrian is the service member and a longterm member of MTorque. Completely trust him and his team to do the job properly, hence driving past a few BMW dealers to go to him...
