Z4MR broken rear coil springs?
Discussion
Just called into the dealer on the way home & it's booked in on Monday to have it (them) done under warranty. I thought it was odd that it waited until it was parked in the garage before falling off.
I don't live near the cost but with all the salt on the roads this winter I may as well. I very rarely go over speed bumps, in fact I use the same roads every day I have with my last 9 cars & I have never had a broken coil before, that I have known of, I only found out it was broken because if dropped of in the garage, if it had been on the road or parked somewhere I may have never found out.
Worrying?

It's just the bottom of the spring that breaks off. If the paint gets chipped it's very quick to corrode. When mine went on my M3 it didnt feel different. In fact it only came to my attention when I lowered the passenger window and heard some squeaking noise. Sounded like a wheel bearing.
It's probably due to sitting water at the bottom of the spring..

Common problem - warranty job. I had both mine changed on the 2004 2.5 Z4 I had.
Get both rears changed. Failure mode seems to be stones chip the paint, corrosion sets in and crack emanates from the pin prick corrosion and coil snaps. Usually the bottom coil on the RHS.
From the picture you've posted the same failure mode is evident and at the same location too. Covering with a sleeve, stone chip deflector, better paint or a steel less likely to rust would solve the problem.
