Hi,

Does anyone know how to reset an e39 alarm. I went into the car and pressed the button on the key to lock the car by mistake. The alarm started to go off so I pressed the key again and nothing happened. The button on the console to lock the car seems to work intermitently(sp). I have disconnected the battery but the alarm is still going off. The car starts and drives with the alarm going off. Any ideas?

Unlock and lock using the key in the door lock.

If it proves not to be the bonnet sensor, give the interior sensor dome (behind the sunroof) a vacuuming, dust and such like can also set off the alarm.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked pin switches but it's was still doing it. I took it into BMW this morning but they have not had time to look at it yet.

Turns out it's some interior sensor. Still not had it back.
