I have a 2002 E46 M3 and the rear section of the exhaust needs changing soon. I have kept up the BMW warranty (at great expense) and although I would like to get a much more vocal performance exhaust I do not want to risk the warranty. Any thoughts?
I am not sure what the wording of the warranty is, but it's likely to be "if you change a component we wont cover it", so it shouldn't impact the cover for the rest of the car. If in doubt - phone BMW Warranty and ask, if they say "no worries" - get it in writing!
