Is AC Schnitzer still approved by BMW?
Discussion
As above, are they? Starting to get itchy for an exhaust for the M3 but without warranty worries.
They definitely used to be, but not sure about now. I remember possbly seeing ads announcing they aren't but can't remember!
Someone on the Z4 alloy thread mentioned that bmw's reject modified cars unless they are ACS modified so maybe a glimmer of hope?

I can understand why they stopped it, for their own performance accessories. What I cant understand is them not including ANY stuff for the ///M range. Totally outrageous.
I remember someone sent them an email asking why and they replied there wasn't demand! But there is demand enough to make a modified exhaust for a 325i? bulls

If your ACS components were fitted prior to the decoupling of the BMW UK and ACS partnership last year (can't recall the date) (and you have the valid invoice/receipt from a official UK BMW dealership for the supply and fitting of respective ACS components) then they are covered under BMW manufacturer or BMW Insured extended warranty.

Sorensons BMW, Hardwick Road, Kings Lynn, Norfolk (Now Listers BMW) used to be the main UK agent for AC Schnitser (ACS) parts. All ACS parts are BMW approved in the same way that AMG is approved by Mercedes. You have no worries there unless you have corrosion problems with ACS wheels @ £1000 a corner. ACS wheels are piss poor & corrode around the valve caps at around 12 months. Disgusting & an absolute rip-off by ACS.They definitely used to be, but not sure about now. I can assure you that ACS products, although German TUV approved, are totally sub-standard. A Toyota Matiz alloy wheel will last for nearly 10 years without corrosion so why do £1000 ACS alloys corrode after 12 months? - Because ACS play on their trademark, have the wheels cast in Italy (Fiat/Alfa/Ferarri wheels corrode within 12 months) & just flog them to any idiot.

The young men on Pistonheads will undoubtedly ban me now, but you have to ask yourself - do you want a source of 35 years knowledge banned? I am innocuous & only try to help. 20 years of flying virtually every Fighter A/C. Says it all really when the mods decide to delete me.

Will the exhaust void the warrenty? Surely it just will not be covered if it goes wrong?
Certainly was my understanding of the warranty having talked now to the selling dealership, BMW customer services and the dealership handling some of the little problems I've encountered. All the BMW parts are covered despite the additional AC Schnitzer components added by the last owner.'Yadi said:

Most (all?) exhausts, that sound nice claim some kind of power increase, right?
So say you had a Tubi fitted and your engine went bang. Whats to stop BMW saying 'Exhaust=increased power', therefore 'increased power=engine operating beyond tolerances'. User caused expiry of the engine, therefore we no pay

How much is the M3 V8, 15k, 20k? That's what puts the frighteners on me. Even more so because the same argument is applicable to gearboxes.
Best thing is ring and ask your local dealership would it affect the warranty ?
My own car which has Ap racing brakes front and rear , Kw3's coilover suspension , eibach roll bars , Csl wheels , wheel spacers , after market front strut brace , full miltek exhaust , aftermarket airbox , has never had any warranty issues when back to dealership for repairs !
I even had a front bottom arm and then on a different occasion complete steering rack changed under warranty with the parts above fitted !
The dealer said that the warranty will not cover the aftermarket parts but does not affect the rest
All i had to do was sign a form to say that the dealership could not set the KDS (alignment) up with the aftermarket parts fitted and it was down to me to adjust and set .
