BMW APPROVED WARRANTY COST Z3 M COUPE
Discussion
Hi - just received the cost to extend the approved warranty to my 51 plate ZM Coupe 62K and it has risen from £700 last year to an eye watering £1500. Is this right or I am on the end of a dodgy quote ?
Looks like I will let it go and get it in for an advanced Type 1 service whilst it is still covered.

Hi,
The reason your warranty has risen is due to the mileage being over 60k.
Is there any record with bmw that your mileage is actually 60k+ wink wink?
You are also able to get three types of warranty cover - driveline, named component or fully comp. Where the former are cheaper than the latter (which I guess is the one they quoted you on).
With the value of your ZM being about £15k, is it worth spending 10% of its value on a warranty?
The ZM is a very simple car (even the S54) and engine rebuild is the worst case scenario?
I would bank the £1500 and chuck it at an independant.
In the two years I owned my ZM, I had no major issues.

Have to agree, if you really want a warranty take one out with warranty direct, it is £800 but they will come down to £600 and as long as you don't expect stupid things to be covered they are great.
They paid for my rear springs the other day and the local BMW dealer said that would not have been covered with them.

Rear springs ARE covered by BMW warranty, I had mine replaced recently. Also, whilst I'm pleased you had a good experience with Warranty Direct, I and many others wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Most 3rd party warrenties are not worth the paper they are printed on.They paid for my rear springs the other day and the local BMW dealer said that would not have been covered with them.

I just paid £870 to renew mine for the best cover available (fully comp, nil excess) but mine is 44k miles......
If it had been £1,500 I wouldn't have paid it. Seems OTT.
I'm just looking at this (for an E46 though) and am really surprised a the cost for a car that isnt quite 3 y/o, barely overy 30k on it.....are BMW taking people for mugs or do they raelly think they need to charge the thick end of a grand for a warranty? If it had been £1,500 I wouldn't have paid it. Seems OTT.
Might be worth checking out some of the other warranties, it appears BMW's doesn't quite give you the piece of mind you'd expect. My M3 convertible's boot doesn't unlock via the central locking. Took it to the dealers and a wire has apparently broken inside the conduit. Electrical wiring isn't covered by the AUC warranty so it seems.
