Not driven the M3 E92 coupe so how much better is the M3 over the 335i M?

Is it worth the extra £10k over the 335i M coupe on the 2nd hand market?

If you drive them you'll immediately feel the difference. ignoring the likely chipped 335 comparisons, the depth of engineering between the two is considerable. I would expect the 335 is cheaper to run and later in life that difference of running costs may expand if the M3 needs bits (or contract if twin turbos need work).

Whilst the two share the same body shape there's so many ideological differences in the appproach to their application that you'll be won over or wonder what all the fuss is about.

i loved the E46 M3... it is something special.

I been debating a while and i realised that things like the Audi S5, TTs, S3 dont meet my needs. It is going to have to be a BMW. The 335i M I was thinking. But my only reserve was it does not feel special when you see a lot of them on the road.

So.. i think the M3 has the special feel. I think i could do it financially... with a pay rise!

Its disappointing to see the interior is the same on the 335iM and the M3...

I think i should book a test drive.

I am thinking the only same body parts are the boot lid, the doors and i think that is it.

The engine is different of course, suspension, prob the whole electronics of the car... not sure tbh.

I still have time as i am not buying right now but i suppose i am researching and setting an aim!

anyone here own an M3 E92? what do you think of it?

I have an e92 M3. I've had a few M's of various vintages as well as a 996 Carrera 2. I've also had the fortune or misfortune to work for BMW and driven the whole range. There's really no comparison. People who don't know cars won't appreciate it, anyone who does, will. As squeeze said...rev it to 8.3k with M mode and I think you'd only consider the 335 if your driving needs or budget really forced you to.

I've got an E92 M3 and I've driven loads of high end cars like Ferraris Porsches, Astons etc, and I'd have to say that my car manages to work on so many levels that there's no real comparison to a 335i. It's fast (obviously) sounds awesome, handles well and yet still can carry the kids in the back (adults if needs be) and the boot is much larger that you'd give it credit for. As a jack of all trades it's second to none especially with EDC!

Quick question.

Can you stick roof rails on the E92 M3 coupe? Carbon roof right?

peformance of 997S and M3 closely related; I drove friends 997s and 2 for sale I found the two suprisingly close in terms of depth and flexibility. Horses for courses etc, but whilst AMV8 Vantages have great looks, dynamically they aren't the best sorted or quickest in class, in that way an E92 competes....in other ways it doesn't. I think it's a great value performance car with depth and practicality.

A Vantage feels more special to drive than an M3. It has much more direct steering feel. Both are great, but the Aston has the same power (in the newer 4.7l version) and is a bit lighter.

And what if you compare 335i e92 with M3 E46? Somehow im not sure the performance difference (save for tracking) is going to make up for the dated looks...

there has been loads of videos and reviews about standard e92 335i v/s the e46 m3...I believe its a fair match, because "on paper" they have similar(ish) performance...0-60 in sub 5.5 secs and pushing around 306-343bhp....

handling wise, the suspension on the M3 is "raw" as compared to a 335i but there doesn't seem to be a major difference on track as portrayed in those videos....

I've never been against an e46 m3 so can't really comment.
