Is this possible when you have the standard business stereo system with front loading cd in the E46 M3?

Also where could I get the kit from if I so wished? Or can I?

Regards

The kit is about 10 speakers around the car imms so retrofitting it might be a bit of a sod.

Yes it is possible, and there is a detailed instruction on how to do this on mtorque. Use the search function over there to look for it.

For what it's worth, I have the Harmon Kardon setup, and it is really good. It sounds great, and is more than loud enough.

Whilst it was on my preferred list of kit when I was shopping it wasn't essential. I'd either just stick with what you have, or (having seen the amount of work involved in getting the whole kit retrofitted from the afor mentioned guide) go for a sensible aftermarket upgrade on the speakers and amplification .... That doesn't have to be a Barry mod if done properly with good kit, and fitted well.

You can easily better the HK option with aftermarket kit for far less cost than retrofitting HK. Apparently the HK system runs a funny impedance or something so you aren't able to mix and match. Get some upgraded speakers (Rainbow do some direct replacements) and a Sony sound on top amp which is nice and easy to fit. You'll have a system equal to HK for less money and about an hour's work.

This man speaketh the truth, when i was looking for my E46 Harmon Kardon was a must (as the Harmon Kardon in our JCW Mini was terrific) the system in the E46 by comparison is rather poor in my opinion

Thanks. Do you have a link to these rainbow speakers?
