Car Cover for E46 M3 - Halfords any good?
Discussion
Hi,
Due to increasingly strained finances the M3 is getting less and less use (might have to sell it
)... The fact that its always blocked in by another (our) car in our drive makes it a more of a pain to use also.
So rather than having to wash it every 3 weeks just because its rained (and its only been driven about 50miles) I figured I'd stick it under a car cover as it turned into a one weekend a month car anyway...
So is the Halfords Advanced cover (about £60) any good? If not what alternatives are there that don't cost a fortune?
Cheers

How expensive is your M3 to run?Due to increasingly strained finances the M3 is getting less and less use (might have to sell it

pretty sure its breathable so I guess it should be fine then.
As for running costs... 9000 million... sounds about right for a monthly figure
In reality the running costs are very very reasonable especially for a performance car, its just more to do with the fact that I don't use the car for any of the day to day stuff and I don't really have the money anymore for the weekend trips etc that I would have used the car for.

I put one of their cheap silver plastic covers on a Mk 1 Escort I had. Few months later I took it off an it had somehow damaged the paint on the roof - looked like water staining. T-cut out eventually though.
Let me know how you get on as I fancy getting one for my M3 too. Less than 100 miles since November...

Have a look at BMW's own.
I've recently put one on my Z4M as I was losing the fight against seagull s
t.
It's a really good quality cover, fits perfectly, hasn't blown off and has stood up to some very blustery weather. I picked mine up for £100, which seems a lot initially, but compared against cheaper (£20-30) Halfords generic covers I've had in the past it's well worth it.
