Thinking of doing a trip to the Nurburgring Thursday 13th August. By chance anyone else going?

We'll leave Folkstone Thursday AM, and return Saturday with Friday at the track (from 2pm onwards).

Never been before so keen to see what its all about.....

Any tips?

I'm there on the 21st of August

Tips, well take it easy! And let the uber fast german drivers past you on the left, and indicate right to show your staying over for them.

Hotel Scholz in Koblenz is a nice place to stay, and cheap. Theres a great italian down the road from it, and a steak house 5 mins walk away.

Its the best length of road int he world, i doubt you'll be able to go and have a bad time

Thanks

Matt

Stay well away from the kerbs if it's damp.

Remember where Adernaur Forst corner is and make sure you slow down for it smile

Don't hold up cars even if they are a lot 'slower' than your Z4M. If they are in your mirrors they are faster.

me and a few friends got back from our first trip a few weeks ago.

I loved it want to go back before the end of the year, a couple of the other guys were a bit more of the opinion they could take it or leave it. I think the insurance worries might have had something to do with it and not doing enough laps to even start to learn it.

Having said that the atmosphere around the place was great.

Where are you staying? we stayed at http://www.burgstube.com/ which was a nice hotel about 2 minutes from the track entrance. The guy who ran it (Martin) was happy to advise people who'd never driven the ring of the do's and don'ts which was well worth listening to.

We tried to get to the track very early at the weekend (7.30 seams to ring a bell) to get a couple of laps in before it got too buzy and then headed to one of the car parks around the track to watch late morning / early afternoon. our weekend was cut slightly short on monday evening due to a crash which was a shame.

Other than that take it easy for the first few laps and if it rains don't bother going out, we saw a bike come off at what looked like walking pace in the wet.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Im thinking of staying at the Ring Haus hotel (also near the entrance).

Where is a good place to sit and watch the action? Obviously I guess you can go anywhere but there must be 'hotspots'?

We were there for the third time in June. Be bloody careful! I'd recommend leaving the DCS on and keeping an eye on your mirrors.

The first sight I saw the first time I went to the ring was a Z4MC that had rolled!

It has to be done though it really is amazing. I cant wait to get back again next year.

You've got to give it a go, can't belive so many folks never do the 'ring.

Just take it easy, this is my company- www.lizardlogistics.com

as well as normal stuff i do an increasingly large number of 'ring recoveries, I'm sat at ring now & was here this wk end delivering out here & I keep a car here & had a nice little 28 lap wk end off, only it wasnt completely a wk end off as I have 5 dead brit cars to get to uk just from this wk end, spanks & blow ups & this is my 8th visit to collect brit stuff this yr...

Take a look at Northloop.co.uk for 'ring info & banter info.
