Does this look like a good spec / price?
Thinking of taking a look on Friday. Not familiar with the M5 market.

Seems like a nice car, although I'm not keen on the colour.........
I would also rather a pre March 06 car and save over £200 a year on road tax! Obviously if you were going for an 07 or 08 car it would be different, but its an 06 so just over the limit
M5 vs M6............
M6 is an incy weeny bit faster (see the Fifth Gear vid on youtube) but is a love it or hate it car, plus only has 2 doors. What do you need?

The differences between the M5 and M6 are far greater than you might imagine.
People presume due to sharing engine/gearbox etc. they are just 2/4 door variants. The M6 has had an awful lot of work done to the weight balance and distribution by extensive use of carbon fibre and other lighweight materials (not just the roof, but the bumpers, wings etc.) and hence the very expensive list price.
It is a different beast and warrants a back - back test drive with the M5 to see which you prefer.
The M6 is a 2nd hand bargain - I got rid of my 56 plate with only 12K miles for £34K earlier this year, it had a list price of over £90K!
Don't rule it out!

The M6...can turn from a luxury coupe one minute to a total animal the next. Perfect.
To quote Wade Garrett, "Pre-cisely right."Having shed some points recently to re-embolden the old HSP, I've taken it upon myself to uncork the fizz at almost every opportunity.
Completely disregarding the sage advice of my mentor and tutor in most things hoonmanic, Lord Daz of The Rhen Falls, I decided to punt heavily t'other night with the MDM mode operational in precipitous conditions and it was simply ace.
That was seconds after having trundled respectfully past some jodphured Jemimah at 15 mph whilst switching between DAB and Bluetooth: ICE I could never have managed in the only other car to date to have excited me so, ye olde Cerby...

Would it be a nice move from a Cayman S?
I would like more space....and my shortlist is presently:
911
M5
RS4
They're trying to sell me an M6 too that's 3yrs / 14k miles. Looks in very good shape, not really as into the M6 though.
Anyone driven an M6 vs. M5?
Yes I drove both a few years ago with the intention of buying one. To be honest they are both very similar, the M6 feels lighter and slightly more "chuckable" but that's all really. I personally found the gearbox to be very slow and jerky, which is why in the end I didn't buy one and bought a 911 instead. My advice to you is to test drive the M5 before you buy it, you may find that you just don't get on with the gearbox.I would like more space....and my shortlist is presently:

That is just about my favourite car right now. I saw a Gen 2, white, very well specced NEW C4S in the garage the other day whilst getting my tyres swapped.
It had my IDEAL spec, but I'd have to save up a bit as even after discount I'm guessing you'd be into the 70's and that seems a lot to pay for a car lol! It's more than most people earn!
Still, amazing car, and it was perfect. Might ask them to save it till Christmas for me haha

The 911 C2S is no where near as fast as a Turbo or M6, but for driving every day at more realistic road speeds you get a lot more feel and enjoyment. C2S/C4S - some people like the slightly wider body of the C4S, but I prefer the feel of a C2S - the differences are slight. Mine has a LSD too, but again you need to be pushing hard to notice any difference. C2S has a bigger boot

Enjoy trying them all out.....

I bought my 2006 M5 in Feb for 27k from BMW park lane though. have they really appreciated 10k since beginning of 2009!?!?!

There is no way you'd get it for £31K.....the car has a lot of options on it too!
I'd say you'd get it for £35K.....remember that M5 prices have stabilised lately, even increasing for a while!
£31K would be more of a private price.
I agree, that car is perfect for me, the only thing missing from the spec is LOGIC7. I reckon a bid of £35K would secure it.I'd say you'd get it for £35K.....remember that M5 prices have stabilised lately, even increasing for a while!
