Just picked my new toy up today from Ted/Fred/Rich of these parishes.
Hope you enjoyed the ride home on the 9R mate
Estoril blue, grey leather, lots of toys, very nice nick and drive lovely.
Now, insurance.
My main car is a Boxster S which is due for renewal in a couple of months. Thats insured with Direct Line at the moment, but I don't know if DL are competitive for multi car policy? They don't seem to do a proper multi car policy, but a completely different policy that they match NCB on.
(I've got 3 years NCB, 6 points, SP30 & SP50, and a full loss accident claim for £21k 1/4/2008 so I don't think I'm any insurers idea of an ideal client
)
DL quoted me £750 for the M3 annually (the Boxster's about £900 IIRC).
Two questions, who's the best company for a multi car policy and secondly where can I get short term insurance for the M3?
I've tried to get short term quotes from a few places for the M3 but they all say either "Its a BMW, computer says no", or "Its higher than group 18, computer laughs".
(AFAIK a proper multi car policy is one insurance policy that covers 2 cars, so to take one of those out I'd need to get temp insurance on the M3 until the Boxster is due for renewal and insure both of them at once on a multi car policy)
I don't like the idea of stuffing new toy in the garage for a couple of months until the Boxsters insurance comes up for renewal!! Not fun!

I use Swiftcover, they allow you insure several cars using the same NCB, e.g built up 7 years with my Lexus, then recently insured my M3 with a new additional policy, but Swift let me use the NCB on the Lexus to get the premium down. Also, if there isnt a claim within the first 12 months, they will issue max NCB for the M3 at renewal.

I use Admirals multi-car
Another vote for Admiral. I've got a multicar policy with them and they were a lot cheaper than anyone else by a big margin, with proper cover including legal, gauranteed no claim protection etc. You can get an online multi quote from them here:http://www.admiral.com/splash/multicarQuote.php
That gives you a cheaper quote than if you phone up, some sort of "internet rate." I used that then rang them up with the reference number and confirmed all the details of the cover etc with a human being before handing over my credit card details.
