Morning all!

Got an M5 this week from BMW.....stunningly good car. I'm really enjoying experimenting with the drive set up and learning how to drive it......this will take time and that will make it even more satisfying.....even now, I'm wondering where I'll go after this car....it's made that much of an impression on me already!!

I'll try to attach some images here....have lost resizing software, so we'll see how it turns out....

Thanks for posting the pics....now take them away I a very jealous! biggrinbiggrin

Seriously good looking car and that is exactly the colour combo that is at the top of my list. Its worth buying it just to put it on the drive and look at it!

What was the full spec? Did you get a decent handover from someone at the dealership who knows all about the settings?

It looks like another M5 ;o)

Epic cars enjoy, but that isn't exactly optional anyway!

Hi all!

Just back from another drive.....and another fill up with V-Power!!

The car was prepared really well by the dealer....handover was excellent and thorough.....could not have asked for more.....it feels, looks and drives like a new car and is by far the best I've driven.....a few dogs about!

The car has extended merino leather, blue tooth/telematics, voice control, heated rear seats, logic 7, BMW Connect Drive Assist. I did really also want the active seats, highbeam assist and comfort access BUT could not let the car go just because it didn't have these options.....and anyway, I've learned that the highbeam assist is not quite as effective as I thought in practice, comfort access can be problematic and is really not necessary.....that leaves me just regretting the lack of active seats BUT I think these are a nice gadget to impress your mates with, but they started to annoy me on test drives, so I just switched them off.....SO I've convinced myself I've got a perfect, low-mileage 06 car, with just the right options and in a stunning ext/int combination.

I'm glad I took the plunge and know I won't regret it....worth waiting though for the right car and paying a little more.

I'm trying to perfect the art of smooth, brutally fast up changes in M-mode.....getting it right by lifting off the loud pedal slighltly is such a buzz.....and the M-Dynamic mode is no gimmick.....offers quite a bit more play and fun.

Lovin it!

Assume it was an AUC car? Was it on the website recently?

Interesting that you say there are a few dogs about, the AUC one I drove on Thursday (my first) was spot on, dealer demo +1 local and mature owner. It has been very well looked after and was spot on for spec (albeit Interlagos/black) with the execption of the M Multi functional seats. I would have taken the plunge but the time is just not right for me now, it will be in 6 months though!

So there were a few ropey cars out there? were they private sales or AUC cars? What would be the tell tail signs of an abused one?

Glad it remains to your liking. biggrin

The dogs were all dealer cars.....including one with ripped leather on the driver's seat, buckled front wheel (inner side had been battered) and clutch that was on the way out.....and it had been prepared!!.....another had different tyres on the back FFFS!!

My experience of these cars, very limited compared to many of you I'm sure, tells me that they are not all the same and that, in fact, there is quite a degree of variability in terms of feel, build and quality.....most dealer cars should be of a good standard though.....but there are horror stories and some dealers have terrible reputations.....rightly so too!

Condition, history, driving feel and BMW warranty are essential IMHO.....lowish miles and nice spec are desirable, but not essential......a higher mileage, well-looked after car would be a far better bet than a thrashed 08 plate!

And I genuinely believe that there will always be a select market for nice ones....people like us who will pay top dollar for a good one.....I have no worries about future resale!

Totally agree, the first one I saw nearly put me off the brand, the second was alot better but not right colour/spec, the third I bought, felt so solid in comparison to others and was loaded to boot...
