E60 M5 question
Discussion
After a couple of months of searching, I finally got myself an M5
Pics will follow soon...
A quick question though; when I park up I put the car in neutral, pull the handbrake on and switch the engine off. I then get an alarm 'ping' with a graphic of a car with arrows pointing forwards and backwards. If I then put the car back in gear, the symbol disappears and all appears to be well.
Am I doing the right thing? Does the car have to be left in gear? I've read the manual and can't see anything on this.
Thanks in advance.

I still remember having a queue of angry drivers behind me on the only working pump, waiting 15mins for me to remember that you need your foot on the brake to start the car!!
.... and then also remember shortly afterwards, the 1st time I let it rip in p500/d6 mode, astounded by the willingness to pull like a train way past what the limited speed was supposed to be set at

fantastic looking car! gratz!
Question, how come you got a key in the steering column? Both M cars i've had, had a plastic fob with a start/stop button.
IIRC correctly the really early cars had a key ignition on the steering column rather than the fob.Question, how come you got a key in the steering column? Both M cars i've had, had a plastic fob with a start/stop button.
Car looks awesome though - good job!

To be honest, I did wonder that myself when I picked it up. It was a 2005 '55' plate car first registered in September 05. On that basis, it should have the start/stop button, but it doesn't Question, how come you got a key in the steering column? Both M cars i've had, had a plastic fob with a start/stop button.
