ISOFIX Child Seat Fixings?

I'm thinking of getting a really top spec E46 Convertible but I don't like the idea of creasing up the rear seat leather with child seats - does the ISOFIX system allow you to prevent damage to the leather?

By my experience, no. Isofix bases are very heavy and will leave an imprint on leather.

They do make an indentation on the cushion, but once it comes out and other people sit on the rear seats, it works its way out after a little while. You just need to be careful when trying to put it in place. I would recommend that you drop the hood

thats what I have done for years in my cars, I was just wondering if ISOFIX effectively dealt with the need for towels and still gave a secure fit

Secure fit, yes, but you still need the towels.

Seen an advert in one of the car mags (prob Top Gear) about these seat covers you can get, made to fit your seat. They protect it from damage caused by isofix. Cant remember the name of the company, but at least you know there is a product to solve the problem...

Knew I'd seen it in Top Gear...not custom fit for your car, but will stay put anyway, fitted underneath an isofix seat...
