Trying to find out if the current standard fitment M3 (E90/92) 18 inch wheel (see photo) will fit a 2009 model year E91 M Sport (to be precise a 330d M Sport Touring (E91 facelift model))

http://inlinethumb18.webshots.com/43217/2177123210...

Please help as can't stand the standrd fit M Sport run flat tyre and wheel combo fitted at the moment.

They will fit, but you'll need to use slightly lower profile rubber than the standard M3 Michelins otherwise the rears can foul the arch. I believe that at least one chap from the forum has done it on his previous E91. gizzE I think it was.

Thanks for the reply but the Touring in the e90post is a pre facelift car, I would of thought there would not be any differance between a pre and post facelift but in this post

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

about CSL wheels fitting an E90/E92 one of the posters states they would fit a pre face lift E90 but not a post face lift E90.

Not 100% sure then Paul. Get over to the U.K section of E90post and ask the question there. You might have better luck.

I don't know if the rears fit (nice pic btw - maybe I'm biased..)

But if you have to change the tyres and buy the wheels you may as well go for non-RFTs on your standard rims - unless you really don't like the rim design and then I'm not a fan of M wheels on non Ms, maybe better to go for something more individual like BBS CH or Rs, both of which are v v v nice indeed.

You can't get them to fit on an LCI car. The backs rub badly. frown

LCI means life-cycle impulse, or facelift to you and me. So it seems that they don't fit your car. Wounder, as they look great on the pre-facelift touring!

I understand that on the facelift (or LCI) the rear track on some models were increased by 24mm. I wonder if this is the reason that they won't fit?

Sounds reasonable to me. Shame.

BBS wheels are very nice but also very expensive.

What I'm trying to do is reduce the unsprung mass, this I hope will give a better ride. Due the construction of the run flat wheels and tyres they must be IMO heavier than a non run flat wheel and tyre. Im hoping it will be the equivalent of changing from steel wheels to alloy wheels.

This is my last touring, firstly with 19" BBS CHs.....

And then with the 18" M3 wheels.....

I would say that weight wise they felt pretty similar, maybe the BBS felt a little lighter, but the overall ride, grip and bite going into corners was better on the M3 wheels, probably as they were 18's.

I also tried some ACS type IIIs on the car too.....

I have to say the Type IIIs were great, felt really light and because they were 8.5" all round they helped reduce the understeer, they needed some spacers on the rears to fill them out a bit, but before I got the spacers the M3 wheels turned up so I had a bash with them instead and prefered the darker wheel on the car.

Sorry to dredge up this old thread but will 18" m3 wheels fit straight on a PRE lci 335d touring?
