Hi all,
Just recently purchased an 1999 e39 M5 and i'm loving everything about it other than the fuel consumption of course... Just a quick one, anybody know of a good independant specialist that they can recommend in the West Midlands/Birmingham area and also a good "cheap" supplier for parts as the brake discs are currently warped and need replacing. I just dont really want to pay top whack for BMW parts as i think they're a bit over the top.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance
Andy

Brakes are pretty expensive.
I did the front discs and pads on mine last year, and even from Euro Car Parts they were the thick end of £500.
With respect, balls to that. I got new discs for £150 each and a set of EBC Yellows for £80 from Euro/GSF a few months back. OEM pads were about £20 less.I did the front discs and pads on mine last year, and even from Euro Car Parts they were the thick end of £500.
Dont bother with brake pad sensors, your paying just to be lazy. How hard is it to know in your head when you last changed your pads, how hard you drive your beast, and how about manually checking them?
Just checked, the total bill including VAT was £560.
That was for ATE discs, Textar pads and a wear sensor, all supplied by Euro Car Parts and fitted by a local specialist.
Looking at the Euro Car Parts price list, I think the cost of discs have come down by about £20 each since I did it.

Try www.bmminiparts.com - Just used them for a bunch of engine parts and they were a fair bit cheaper than BMW (and its all genuine stuff!)
For brakes I used www.brakesint.co.uk, and got Pagid fronts, and a set of rears (cant remember what)for £109 delivered. The pagids are bloody good as well....
