Just been having a hugely frustrating attempt to fix the BMW fire extinguisher to the underside of my passenger seat.

The kit has a bracket with 2 screws and 4 bolts.

One of the little feckers popped out as I was moving the bracket and rolled back under the seat.

There is a heater vent under the seat.....

It rolled into the edge of the vent, still visible.

I carefully move the seat forward so I can get to it from behind. I carefully place a screwdriver into the vent, next to the bolt in order to hook it out.

And yes, the little fecker falls all the way into the vent and I can hear it rattle away about 6 inches under the floor.

I know that this is going to rattle like a bolt in a biscuit tin for the rest of my ownership of this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How on earth am I going to get it out, without ripping out the carpet, sound deadening and everything else etc to get to the vent???

Help......

If its magnetic, then get one of those magnets on a slightly bendy rod things from screwfix et al. Works for me when I drop stuff through the engine bay and onto the tray underneath!

Actually its worse than I thought....

The little fecker has not gone into the vent, but under it, into the cross member which runs from side to side under the carpet, under the seat.

But I can see it.

Now for some blutack and a screw driver.

I could be some time.....

Got it!!! Yesssss!!

Thank you blutack.

Time for a lie down in a darkened room now.

I am going to let the stealer fix the extinguisher. Had enough of this malarky.
