Same description would apply to an intermittent rattle which I have. Dealer suggested it may be from ventilation ducts, and said they could take the dash out to look for it. I have not had them do so yet.

I must be lucky - not a single rattle anywhere!

Especially when missing bolts have been recovered from their hiding places.

Is it definitely the dash? I've had 3 E92s (335i and a couple of M3s) and all have had the same rattle from the passenger seat when unoccupied. Sounds like it comes from the dash when hearing it from the driver's seat, but it was the passenger seat. Seems to be something loose in the extending thigh support that is cured when someone sits in the seat. Then it's fine for a while after someone's been in the seat but then gradually returns.

Try closing the centre vents (below the idrive screen) and move the temp setting to half way between cold and hot.

Thanks guys, i think ive located it, when a passenger holds the trim under the glovebox it goes. so will remove and refit that. Could get the dealer to do it, but not worth bothering them over something hopefully simple.

Try pushing the glovebox door up into the dash and hold it whilst driving to see if it goes away.
Worked for me.

You can tell the Zeds are American built hehe

I'm relatively squeek free at the moment, but then mine has only done 2000 miles.
