I'm thinking about px'ing for a used Manual E92 M3, I've found one I like in the silverstone colour. Will the running costs be any higher than the S54 engined M cars?

Looking for some brief information on warranty renewal and inspection costs after the AUC period is up. Not too bothered about MPG.

Cheers

yup, servicing is slightly higher, parts for brakes etc is slightly her. MPG is alot worse even if you don't give it the beans.

Cheers Neil, question is. Is it worth it. I know the car will have a more detached feel but I'm sure I can get used to that in return for a more luxury feeling

Daz,
You have seen the white one in Abz - see

How about a 335i or 335D?
Not the same kudos but nice cars.

My money would be on this

That white one is stunning Gareth. I want to buy an AUC car tho if I'm going ahead.

Alpina, 335 etc is not for me I'm not ready to leave the M badge behind just yet.

I tried one this week. It's not hugely faster than the E46, but it's handling is much improved. When it breaks into oversteer it does it incredibly smoothly and it seems much easier to catch than the E46.

There's much more torque lower down the rev range, enough for it to try to spin a wheel up on tighter corners at <3k rpm, which the E46 just doesn't have the torque to do. The bark of the V8 when blipping down through the gears is reason alone to buy one. smile

Considered this too Daz, but tbh, i wouldn't warrant the extra 10-12k. I already own 7k on the BM!

More costly to run for sure. A 335i/d doesn't come close and whilst the M3 doesn't shout louldy, side by side it's much more muscular. Expect higher running costs from many things and condition based serviciing means more frequent trips to the dealer, even if they are broken down for very specific items. The engine is a masterpiece and as I've said on here many times before there's great depth and breadth of abilities to this car. Some of which aren't always aparent on a test drive@(3rd gear 8300 rpm is particularly enjoyable from an audible standpoint).

M3 = Premiership
Other 3 Series = Conference North
