Remap for E39 M5 can you recommend anyone
Discussion
Thinking of getting an off the shelf map for my E39 M5, been checking on several tuners websites eg CA Automotive, Superchips etc. All seems to claim 15-20bhp & increase in torque. I'm more interested in getting the 155mph limiter removed but don't want a map that raises the rev limiter. i'm wondering if getting an E39 M5 remapped is a waste of money though, can you notice any difference, surely M cars are mapped to achieve the max from factory.

Personally - I would say it wasn't worth it. They may claim to release 20bhp or whatever but would you notice that with over 400bhp? Most of it will be in your head anyway.
Have the speed limiter removed but leave BMW's efforts alone. I have read of problems with remaps. Have a look on M5board - but im sure you have researched the subject yourself.

On an M car i think the point of the remap is to make the delivery smoother and give better throttle response rather than the outright uplift in BHP (although every little helps!)Have the speed limiter removed but leave BMW's efforts alone.
