Scoping out something interesting to buy soonish, and ive always loved the Z3M coupe. Bit out of my price range at the moment but it wouldnt take long for me to gather the funds.

Anyway, what are these like to live with every day?, i have a 28 mile drive to work 5 days a week. Fuel consumption not really bothering me just wanting something fun.

M3 also a possibility.

I had a coupe as my daily driver for about 18 months and would do it again in a heartbeat. The perfect car IMO. Small enough to nip through gaps, easy to drive, ridiculously quick and fairly practical. It made commuting fun. Only problem with mine was a battery issue which meant I was late for work a couple of times.

Other than that was the reliability alright?

Pretty much faultless. Mine was over a decade old and had something like 150K on the clock.

Mine is used every day and kept outside. Only issue in nearly two years has been a sticking caliper and slow clock.

They have a useful boot and as long as you don't do too may miles the low mpg is acceptable. Fine over winter (heated seats) despite some people saying they are scarey in the wet.

As with all cars you need to spend the time to get a good one, I looked at about 6 and a couple were real dogs. Depsite these being real enthusiasts cars some people do not maintain them properly.

Who said they are scarey in the wet?

Had my 2001 m coupe for almost 2 years. For reasons best known to me, I swapped it for an M3, (when I say I swapped it, I mean I handed BMW yet another vast amount of money for a car)

Anyway, loved the M coupe. I used it as a daily drive, never let me down, and always had me eagerly looking forward to getting back in it at the end of the day.

Am seriously tempted to get another one......then 2 years later get an M3..........then a few years later.....you get the idea.

As for the M Coupe. Go for it!!

Used both of mine everyday. Very reliable. Never once let me dowm.

Re: Danger in the wet.
I never found them to lary in the wet however, i wrote my first one off hitting standing water on M62 at sub 70mph. I have hit standing water before with no issues but this must have been a very deep patch.

I've had my Z3m Coupe for about 2months know. Previous car was a e36 m3. I have yet to have a problem with it mechanically. I use it for the daily drive to work. 2nd gear in the wet can catch you out if your being a plonker !!!

Awesome Car think its my best yet !!

Very interesting, everything seems to be pointing towards go for it biggrin.
Going to start looking soon, although more than likely would not be buying till next year.

Only on the later S54's not on the S50.

Had mine as a daily runner for 3 years, no problems it never missed a beat and surprisingly practicle, a bit tricky in the snow though.

Seems to be a distinct lack of Z3M coupes for sale in scotland at the moment.

Used both of mine everyday.

Lost my first S50 low gear pulling away coming off a wet roundabout. Insurance paid out but I've spoken to the new owner since.

Much more careful in the damp with my S54 now.

Great car, love the fighter cockpit feel to it. Reliability of the first was probably not that good but i) it was covered by AUC warranty and ii) when it was working the smile on the face was worth it. Water pump, exhaust manifold, oil leak. The lowered acs suspension was a pain at times as well.

Got another one as a replacement. Still loving it every day with low mpg (even though it's in the garage today to have a niggle diagnosed)

Have used my S54 Roadster as a daily commute and no problems. Even the service interval works out at about 12000 miles.
Not good in the snow but here in the Midlands we get very little.

Had one, loved every minute of driving it, never let me down. As a commuter, it depends where to. I used to drive in to London occasionally, and the left foot could get a bit twitchy on the clutch, but generally not a problem. 25 miles sounds like an hour of guaranteed pleasure everydaybiggrin. As with any performance car, go easy in the wet. If it's always raining where you live buy suitable tyres. Saddest day of my petrol head life? when I had to sell it, but to a very nice man from Scotland. Practical, unique and performance to rival any proper sports car.
