Hi all,

Would like to hear some opinions on a luxury problem.. (thats breaking my mind)

I currently own a Z3 M roadster (2nd car), which I love. Great fun factor (and it fits in my garage).

But i 've always been attracted to the E39 M5 (legendary!) and i'm thinking of switching.

Just would like to hear some pro's and con's from experienced people.

I'm not using the car daily and don't have to use it for transporting other people or groceries. I realize the M5 is an very much on a different level than the Z3 M, but can I eventually get more fun factor out of it??

I'd be happy to hear some opinions!

cheers!

I had an M3 Evo for a couple of years, i didn't need to use it much as it lived in the garage & was not used as daily transport,it was a toy that i took to the Ring did a few trackdays & got it out on sunny Sundays. Sold it & bought a facelift E39 M5 3 months ago, M5 is deffo quicker & the noise is amazing, also use the car a lot more as the family will go in it so now i have a choice of whether to use the wife's Volvo V70 R or M5. The only down side is that it uses more fuel & the brakes are not upto doing trackdays. Its a better ride, sounds better, more practical, more fun with dsc off, faster, i much prefer it to the M3 except the fuel is quite a bit worse, normally sits around 21mpg average compared with about 26mpg in M3.

Go & get one !!

Simon.

The obvious question is -- Do you like driving with the top down.
If the answer is yes you keep the roadster -- dont you.

mmm I do like driving top down...

thought maybe the driving experience of the M5 would compensate for the fresh air factor.

I'll just have to go and do some testdriving....

cheers

You'll probably find the driving experience of the M Roadster is every bit as good as the M5. The roadster is raw and brutal - the M5 more civilised. I wouldnt swap my M Roadster for an M5 thats for sure. It would have to be an M3 convertable.
