Wheels from any E39 5 series and M5 are compatible.

Though in case you didn't know, E39 wheels do not fit most other BMWs due to a different hub centre diameter

I should also add that wheel widths may be an issue on the rear though. I am pretty sure the wheel arch liners on M5s are designed to take wider wheels/tyres

yes mate the plastic abs ring on the back of the hub is probably damaged.

last question!!
my car is a pre facelift built dec 99.
should the front abs sensors be blue or grey?
also if the ring you describe is damaged does this mean i need a new hub? the abs sensor is not sending out signals its a blue one by the way.

Not sure on the sensor colour, normally blue but not certain.Best to order to chassis number to be 100%.

It will need a new hub yes if any damage at all.
