Know where there is a genuine one lady owned from new M5 coming up for sale, its 02 with 70K and full supplying dealer history, never abused (prob never over 70!) no accidents and totally mint. What premium do you reckon over a regular 70K miler?

If lucky you may see 17K. A lack of regular use could be a downside if the car has sat for long periods without use or just run around locally!

Why do the english get so obsessed about mileage....using a car properly is way better for the components that rarely using it or just 'popping to the shops' pub etc'.

I've been to see a couple of 02 plate cars over the past few months, one with 52k and the other 48k. Both with FbmwSH and only two owners. Both advertised under 15k from a dealer.

Sadly both sold by the time i got there. I imagine they went for slightly under asking

To be perfectly honest, I'd avoid a car like you mention. Lady owners automatically put my guard up, they tend (not all, I know, but the ones I have experience of) not to warm the car up properly and sometimes ignore unusual sounds etc unless they're a car nut! I'd much rather have a car that's been used and maintained properly so definitely wouldn't pay a premium for what you're describing!

Your prejudice is showing here mate!!

As I said the car has a full day 1 on time service record from the supplying dealer who has also done the MOT's etc.... anything that needed doing has been done properly and on time.

Car is used a daily driver to and from work.

Depends on how the rest of the car looks, mechanically, bodywork and interior. I bought mine as a 1 owner car, and specifically looked for that but it was from Germany and the previous owner had done exclusive autobahn miles in it, so interior was perfect and only a light showering of stone chips on the front indicated that it had been a bahn-stormer!

Check the service intervals - an E39 M5 that is run by the green light indicators could see as much as 15K between services if it is exclusive motorway duty, or as little as 7K if it is used around town only. Also, see if it is on its original clutch, as an indication of how well the "lady" perfected her shifting technique (mine was original on a 108K kilometers, and 70K on still is).

Don't think you'll be able to ask a premium, at that age a vehicle having one owner or three is really irrelevant.

As has been said above dealers with lower mileage cars (circa 50k) have been achieving around the £15k level.

Spec and interior\ exterior colour are going to determine what you can get for it.

Even well known specialists have stuggled to shift E39 M5's if they are the wrong colour and spec.
