Hi,
Purchased a lovely mw3 2003 last week, went to pick it up and pay the balance.

The card did not work in the machine(embarrasing)lucky enough the garage accepted a personal cheque.

Got the car home, put the missus in and managed to drop the keys into the boot and this triggered the deadlocks.

She was locked in the car for 2 1/2 hours on a warm today, had to call out the rac(embarrasing neighbours watching)

A week later father-in-law dies.

So far not much luck, have only driven the car for about 80 miles.

Had a look around the morning and just have a few questions.

In the toolkit the wheelbrace and towing eye are missing. It looks like something else should be in there aswell?

On the nearside rear arch the panel gap is slightly different to the other side,it looks like a retaining clip has moved or come off its mounting, any ideas.

Any thoughts on the price of a new key?

Any help would be appreciated.

Checked with Dick lovett today, there should be a wheelbrace, wheels do get removed for other reasons than a puncture.

There should not be a wheel brace, as there is no jack or spare wheel - sorry to hear about the rest of your ordeal, can only be better from now on!

I was called last week asking how to open a convert if the car has dead locked....this one had a wife trapped inside too......Did it by chance come from the chepstow area.
2 methods of breaking out...the one RAC/AA and BM know about(and me) and opening the convert manually...

hope you have a better time of it from now on....ps no brace for m3 as standard

My m3 is a coupe,so the rac man came out.i now know how to overcome the system. It seems a crazy idea that someone could be locked inside.i mentioned to the wife that if i ever worked inside the car,say inside the garage whilst she was away i could be in there for days.We are going to get a mobile just to keep in the car just in case.
Is there a way to remove this facility from the car?
I know it is a safety feature in case anyone tries to steal the car.
Cheers

A shade under £100 from main dealer. You can get the little plastic one as a spare for about £20 I think.

This is probably a stupid question wobble, but are you saying that putting the keys in the boot automatically triggers the deadlocks? Or did the keys fall in there and land on the "lock" button on the remote thus triggering the locks, as you simultaneously shut the boot lid? Couldn't your missus just press the "lock/unlock doors" button by the gear stick, I know that works without the keys in as I sometimes press it as soon as I've shut the door when getting in. Again, I've probably missed something obvious so appologies if this is a numpty question wobble

I've got an E46 M3 convertible, do the deadlocks activate when you lock the car with the remote? Or do you have to do/press something else to activate them after locking the car?
