Trade in 2005 M3 SMG Convertible?

A friend of mine is selling an 05 M3 convert with SMG, leather, silver, 60k miles, I am checking what service history it has. He wants a quick sale and I wondered if anybody knows if dealers are paying good prices for them at the moment given that they're all supposed to be generally short of stock.
Parkers trade in is £18k, but will he get near this or should he try to sell it privately in PH classifieds? I'm a bit wary of telling him to put it into auction.
