have seen some of the debates on M5 board.

What is the best sounding exhaust for these car - nothing too intrusive.
I want something a bit more beefy sounding for around £800 --

If you can stretch to £900 I fully recommend the Milltek cat back system.

Were the scallywags in the second clip the sort known about the home counties as 'rude boys?'

Dreadful.

I quite like that, even so.

Time for Tubi bye-bye...

Tubi Rumore if you can stretch your budget. Had one on my e39 M5 and the sound was smokin... Coupled with their resonated X-Pipe equalled no drone and a sound like V8 Muscle.

Here's a pic of the polished backboxes on my old steed. wink

AC Schnitzer fare re the alloys?

My only concern for the M5 is excessively diluting the intended spirit via excess zorstular cacophany.

Yes, AC Schnitzer Type III Racing, split with powdercoated Black centres and hand polished Lip.

Tubi Exhaust was a doddle to fit, perfect fit and finish...

If you put the X pipe in you will get big noise!

You cant go far wrong with any of them really, great weight saver aswell-the OE system is made from granite!

youtube is full of people who've replaced their backboxes with straight pipes, apparently not too loud, as everything else is still insitu, they seem to sound really good too. Plus you could probably get a pair knocked up for £100, so if its not to your tastes, well, you've lost £100 max, you'll probably still be able to sell them on ebay for what you paid.

examples...

although on the other hand, i'd like to know what this guy is using, because his car sounds awesome! I dare say its a bit loud, considering the forest based echo you can hear.

OP, did you make a decission?

I am looking at just changing the X pipe on mine to keep it civil, anyone had this done? I am delaying as it requires cutting.

Thanks for the help guys
I think I will go for that Milltek.
Been doing a lot of research.
The standard is just not beefy enough in my opinion

Its GOT to be a Tubi Rumore, the others dont even come close. Have owned and had an "exhaust off" with other e39 M5's with various systems and the Tubi is it a different league. Not slagging the others, they are all menacing in their own way, but the waiiill of the Tubi is just awesome.

My old M5 ended up with a Kelleners exhaust on it. Sounded brutal at full chat, but was fine for motorway cruising and quiet enough when it needed to be. The Tubi does sound equally good though! smile

I would either get a capritso or a Quicksilver as both produce a sound that is second to none.
