Hi guys,
Hoping someone can help me out.
I've purchased a 04 m3 convertable with some movement in the gearstick, my local garage has ordered the new bush but are unsure if the gearbox has to come out or if it can be done from the top.
Anyone here had the same issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not very helpful, but I would change garage if you have to post on a forum to find out for a garage on the correct procedure for this!

How do you describe movement? The M3 has quite a long, saggy throw for a sports car - nowhere near as preceise & direct as a Porsche by way of an example.

Hi,

It doesn't matter if I am in gear or not I have approximatly 25 mm of play.
I've driven a few m3's and it shouldn't be this bad.
I've been told its caused by driving with your hand resting on the gearstick.
I'm at the point where I'm struggling to select gears.
