A little advise please. I'm a 911 owner and I found a great deal (well I think it is) on a new M3 Monte Carlo. Can anyone tell me if these have sold well? Does the extra stuff add anything in terms of desirability? I've noticed that M3s have not been holding their value, am I wrong?

Also is the CSL version far away??

Thank you,

Tom.

I don't think the "edition" models of the E92 have been great sellers, but big ticket new cars haven't been great for a while, believe BMW are throwing 2.5k (free upgrades?)at every new M3 registered before the end of the year and I believe there's a dealer incentive too which gives additional back-end on them if they hit target. Believe Monte Carlo refers to the colour, Dakar and Alpine being the other two options for the "edition" models. I'm not sure on production allocation to the UK right now, but you'll love the car...the engine is a masterpiece.

You could walk into any BMW dealership and negotiate 11-13% on a factory order. Its not that much of a bargain at £52K. Try and get it for a flat 50K

This is what irks me with the prices for used AUC M3s. We all know they are sold around the £50k mark (or less for the pre-reg saloons out there!) Yet they have the prices so high on ~18 month old cars.

Nope, the "Edition" is the stock one with slightly lowered suspension, tweaked kick plates inside the doors, black wheels etc and a few new exterior paint options.

The new 'CSL' is the M3 GTS circa £100K according to recent articles, iirc.

Does this Edition model come with any of the desirable optional extras that the standard M3 usually requires for it to be a good specced car? In other words DCT EDC etc need to be specced on top of the Edition model in its basic form?

Thanks

So don't pay the AUC price. If its really too high, then market forces will reduce it.

There's a short review on Autocar's website which seems to all the Edition includes is lowered suspension, black wheels, a few black chrome bits e.g. grill and a few interior cosmetic bits and different exterior colour choices on the coupe. Everything looks like it is an extra cost option but I could be wrong.

Dare I say it, have a chat with your local BMW AUC if you're feeling brave. You might get lucky and find someone who can provide more solid info.

Good luck!

Was looking at an edition car in my dealer today. I thought it looked superb - particularly liked the gloss black wheels. They had two unsold in the showroom.

I wonder what the lowered suspension does to the ride? Probably less good than a standard car on British B roads.

I believe the spring rates are the same, it's just 10mm lower so ride should be unchanged from what I have read. The standard one rides very nicely, firm but perfectly acceptable day to day so long as you like a 'sporty' set up!

It's a standard M3 apart from having 19s and the limited colours, interior finish, exhaust/mirror/wheel finish and ride height. Everything else is std, so you'll have to add what you would to the std car, EDC I'd recommend...

EVO test drove the M3 Edition recently and gave it 5 stars.

The Monte Carlo Edition at the BMW Sunday Service looked lovely. Quite fancy one in a few years I think..

Hi Tom,

I think it is more desirable than the standard coupe but the limited edition colours may be an issue for some. Don't think M3s typically hold their value well anyway unless you're lucky with a used one. No CSL version coming but there will be a GTS priced at around 100k although limited to around 30 examples (so should hold value). This will be a proper track car though with roll cage, no rear bench, an uprated engine and improved (track-focused) suspension.

Hope this helps

Regards

Looks like a good spec:
M3 Monte Carlo
BMW Individual Paint
BMW Individual Upholstery
Seven speed double clutch transmission
Electronic Damper Control
Seat heating front
Parking distance control front and rear
Adaptive headlights
USB Interface
BMW ConnectedDrive-Assist
Extended BMW online information
BMW ConnectedDrive-Online
Bluetooth phone prep and telematics
Loudspeaker system BMW business
Sun protection glass

Quite like it, it is cheaper to run car than my 911 and it has larger rear seats (for the kids).

Hmmm tempted but is it special enough.......

Has anyone on here bought one? Did you get a better discount?

Tom.

An E92 M3 is loads more practical than a 911 but in my opinion not as special - not that a 911 is that special these days - they're loads of them around! But the M3 doesn't have that low slung driving position that something like a 911 will have.

Engine is properly special though and you'll never tire of it!
