How much is a new M3 likely to cost?
Discussion
I am in the fortunate position where I can now splash out on a new car; I have considered everything from a Ferrari 355 to a Porsche 996 GT3. However, having owned 7 BMWs over the years I can help think about another one.
I was also thinking about a new M3 kitted out with most of the extras but what kind of deal am I likely to get. What kind of discounts should I expect?
Or, would it be easier to get my hands on a used M6.

There were lots of deals on a few weeks ago... Mainly on cars dealers had in stock.. Some reported discounts of almost 20% off list price.
But given that vat rate changes in a week you'll either have to move very fast for the best deal or wait and see what deals can be had from dealers in January.

I've just got a monte carlo for £54k reduced from £59k and an extra £2k on my part ex. I took a finance deal which was really competitive. Obviously you have to invoice the car before the 31st December.
Was this on a car you spec'd or one they already had (new or used?).Sounds like a nice deal that.
It was one that was already in the showroom. I'd ordered a new build which was due for delivery in Feb 2010 but offered to buy the Monte Carlo last week for a minimal cost increase. I thought it was a good deal but the dealer knew I was very serious because I had already signed for a new build a few days earlier. They hadn't actually placed the new order on BMW which enabled me to switch orders. A bluebird deal came my way at work which enabled me to buy the Monte Carlo.
I've driven it about 12 miles in the snow and was absolutely petrified, but it feels soooo sorted and I can't wait for the snow to thaw. The new iDrive is very impressive, haven't touched the paddles or EDC yet and have only driven it in 'D' mode - which is way better than any auto box I've ever driven.
The only thing that came as an unexpected cost was the insurance hike on a Monte Carlo, for me the M3 +MDCT was £650 ish but it jumped to £1100 on a Monte Carlo. I'd assumed it would have been the same as a normal (if you can call an M3 normal) M3 but alas no. Adrian Flux + a tracker seems the cheapest option.

Merry Christmas and a happy new M3!. I've not found Arian Flux to be good price wise but I'm sure others may fit their criteria better than me.I've driven it about 12 miles in the snow and was absolutely petrified, but it feels soooo sorted and I can't wait for the snow to thaw. Hope you enjoy the new toy once the weather clears. Some serious fun to be had.
Have fun.

Same here funnily enough. I usually give them a call at renewal time as people always go on about them - but I've never found them anywhere near competitive on any of my cars (Golfs, Audi's, Minis, M3s', Porsche).]I've got full NCB, I'm a professional, I live in a nice area, I've got the missus on the policy - only down side was 3 points for speeding. I'm not sure what else I can do.... but they're always pleasant enough on the phone mind!
Currently with Swiftcover & paying about £450 on the 911, which seems superb value.
Cheers

I got 22% off when I ordered an m3 convertible this time last year.(I do a LOT of business with the BMW dealer in question so got more off than somebody just going in off the street)I don't think I'd get that discount now.
Prices will be going up in the new
year with the vat rise and weak Pound to the euro

50.5K on new fully specced M3 Monte Carlo, was very honest and stated 50K deal or no deal, the phone went quiet, 24 hours later, jobs a carrot!
Glad you got there in the end Matt! What options did you get for that? DCT? It makes the used prices seem far too steep when new cars are going for this much.Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
