hello everyone,

i have bmw m3 3.2 evo he have vanos problems diagnostic says "advance valve, vanos intake" i'm from georgia (black sea) and here nobody know's what does it means my mechanick says me to replace intake camshuft sensor i have replace but same error.

anyone can help me? (sorry for bad eng)

Their is a lot of hype around vanos failures, but they do fail, try changing the solenoid, as they are cheap, if the gears have worn your looking at a replacement unit. BMW will cut you nuts off for the best part of £1800..!!! and you have to give them your old unit. (They recon then) A cost effective option is Dr Vanos, you send then your old unit and they recon it and send it back ($500 ish) I've seen lots of good reports so far about the work done.

I wouldnt describe the solanoid as 'cheap' but certainly cheaper!

OP - are there any oil leaks from the Vanos unit?

Ive just sent a mint vanos unit to Norway....Im sure Ive got another kicking around!

i have allready done .The problem was in contacts.i was cut the contacts inside and do them again.now everything is ok. vanos works without noisy and the car is flying. thanks a lot.

So the issue was the solanoid board rather than the mechanical parts themselves?
