Mountain bike into Z4MC
Discussion
Very easy....
Here is how:
1 - fold boot cover out of the way

2 - wrap the bike in a blanket to stop the car getting muddy (i'm only wrapping the oily bit so you can see whats going on)

3 - deploy wheel bags

4 - insert mech end into corner of boot

5 - drop forks into the other corner

6 - tuck bars behind the C pillar

7 - tuck wheels in behind the frame

8 - close the boot! (my bike is 2-3 inches clear of the screen)

9 - deploy a black rug and no one can see whats in the boot

road bike also fits in the same way

And yes I did. Not had time to think at work though. Will mail you tomorrow chief.
HAppy new year to you

The challenge is now 2 since I tend to go riding with mates and think a Z4MC may be the next car on the list. Anyone?
As a side note - I notice BMW used to do quite a cool rack for the Z4C that went into the rear of the car and then supported 2 bikes on the rear, have never seen a pic of it on a car though...anyone know any more information about it?
Don't really fancy a Saris rack on the back!

Funny enough this thread was one of the reasons i went for a Z4MC. I've got a Orange 5 too so was good to know it would squeeze in and trust me its a squeeze.

I can also get my Spesh Tarmac road bike with wheels in.
However although two bikes in the back are a no go there still is plenty of space to fit other mtb bits in the gaps. I went camping and had the bike in the back with helmet and clothes etc and had the tent in the front footwell / seat.

It wouldn't stop me getting a Z4MC but I'd love to find a decent way to carry 2 bikes without getting it scratched...AyBee said:

the roads through Wales and Scotland are some of the best in the UK!
you also get some funny looks when you pull a bike out of your Car

I got a good response when I turned up to the Caledonia Etape in the Z4. Although tbh I got a funnier response when I use to turn up at Glentess park and pulled the five from my Elise.... lolthe roads through Wales and Scotland are some of the best in the UK!

as far as the rack goes - I investigated it. Quite expensive at about 2k installed if I remember correctly, as the rear bumper needs removing, holes cut with covers made and all sprayed. The rack itself without installation or any carrier attachments is about 800 I think. Can fit 150cm kiteboard or 180cm skis in mine without the rack, so rather happy as it is
