smg light+flat battery
Discussion
smg light was on mon when i started the car, so turned it off and restarted it, light gone off.
this morning the same except when i tried to restart, it wouldnt start, flat battery, so i jumped it off another battery started fine.
car runs and starts agian fine with no smg light, can the light/ flat battery be connected?
P.S am i right in thinking the car shouldnt start with the bonnet up?

Morning
I also had this problem in the past.
Yes, you are correct, the car would not start if the bonnet is not closed properly.
I wouldn't be suprised if the light was related to the failing battery, but i guess cold weather etc more likely to cause the battery to fail.
I have seen SMG cars where a flat battery has affected the SMG ECU memory and it has needed resetting or even reprogramming.
I guess if your worried though, change the battery and get the fault codes read which should help see if there is any issues.
sorry can't be more help
cheers

During the cold weather my car had not been started for a while.
When I did start it, you could tell the battery was struggling but the car did manage to start.
Once running I noticed the SMG light on.
The car drove fine with no issues.
Since the battery has been recharged and working fine the light has not come back on.
The low voltage seems affect the SMG ECU quite easily.
