Guys I need your helping in deciding on what to do.

I have always loved the M6 since 2005 but couldn't afford one at £93k.

Fast forward 4yrs later and I've seen one for £30k. The spec of the car is high.

Full leather 5k option
Comfort access
ETC ETC (too much to list)
41k miles
FSH and warranty
2 owners

The car is in Silverstone and the Interior is red leather. I really like the silverstone when i first saw it on the M5.

I want to be able to keep the car for about 12 months and hope to lose about £6k on it. Do you think this is right or would i lose a lot more?

I do about 7k miles per year, so petrol is not really an issue.

Your adivse would be appreciated. Thanks

I think it will depend on fuel prices. I have had a 2006 M6 from new and it is brutal on fuel consumption around town. About 10 mpg.I have had not real problems apart from a complete replacement of the ECU under warranty and it is exceptionally comfortable to drive.

Yeah i heard the MPG is high on these cars. LOL

My current car is an X5 4.8is so am used to high guzzling cars.

If petrol prices keep going up then it would affect all high performance cars.

Not really a problem unless i decide to sell the car.

The interior colour might be a bit off-putting to some people other than that it sounds good, it has a warranty and that is the main thing. Doubtful they will be trading hands for less than 25k in 12 months (highish milers aside).

You might be right on the interior colour but I really like it. Used to have a silver M3 conver with red interior and i really liked it.

I think maybe the colour combo is why the price is nearly 3k cheaper than the black on black ones you see advertised.

Due to the limited numbers and the fact that it represents the high point of crazed, M screamers, the E63/64 M6 may become a bit sought after as people tire of the next gen, 'me too' torque monsters.

Prices are stable c/o supply + demand and well cared for cars may depreciate glacially going forth.

I'm getting 14.5 mpg which would cause palpatations for a Ewing but the pathetic fuel tank would have even old JR bailing out faster than Cliff Barnes from Sue Ellen's musky hollow post job.

I, otoh, am stoopid.

Agreed, M5/M6 is far better for the road. I couldn't live with my CSL as a daily driver. M6 is a very underated car IMHO (as is the M5) I've had a CSL, Z4M Coupe, 996 C4S, 996TT and a Cayenne Turbo over the past 4 years and for me the M5 is the best of all worlds.

From what I've read the M6 is a bit more special.

I wouldn't even attempt to take a guess what residuals will be like though as mine has dropped like a lead balloon since I got it.

Take a test drive, the engine is worth the money alone.

Tiff liked the M5...

and the M6 is supposed to be better..

I've had my M6 nearly a year now and loving it. The performance is addictive and the drive on twisty roads is amazing for a car of it's size. The thing I like most about it is that it can be a very comfy motorway cruiser when required and then turn into a b-road hooligan. My previous 911 was great as the latter and poor as the former. Can't wait for the thaw to get her out of the garage again.

The downside to the M6 is not really the poor MPG (you expect that) but the small tank and limited range. I guess also it doesn't look as special as say a AM or a XKR (if looks bother you).

Re the car you mention the seat colour is the issue. I had a E46 M3 a few years ago with kiwi leather. I liked it but it did cause some sucking of air through teeth when it came to trade in time.

Go buy the car you'll love it.

Correct.

It took 5 yokels to shove me out of Dodge last night.

Worse than useless.
