Stat. Vehicle Insp. E60 M5 - needed in 03/10, serviced 08/09
Discussion
Hi,
Last November I purchased a 2006 E60 M5 and until the snow arrived I've been loving it. The last few weeks I've just been sat in it on the drive messing with buttons and switches, anyway...
When I bought the car it had recently been serviced, 18/08/2009, having covered 37k miles. The dealer showed me the iDrive when I purchased it and pointed out it needed a couple of things doing in the coming months but nothing major, cabin air filter (done myself) and brake fluid change (£30 local garage).
Now I've noticed it's showing as needing "Stat. Vehicle Insp." in 03/2010, which fits in with the car's birthday as it was first registered in 03/2006. However I'm wondering if it actually needs this inspection as it was only serviced 2,000 miles ago (currently 39,and-a-bit miles)?
Is this something I should take it to a dealer for anyway and let them charge me a few £'s (or perhaps into the hundreds) so they can look at the iDrive and confirm it needs front brake pads in 1,500 miles and the exhaust is OK for another few years.
What I'm getting at is should I just reset the date of this myself, and make it 12 months from when it was last serviced? I don't want to pay a dealer to stamp my book with 39,000 miles and charge me for doing so.
Thanks
