Guys,

Have been offered a Z4m Looks pretty nice.
Are there any optional extras that are considered a must have?

This car has

Navigation-system Professional
Bluetooth phone prep + telematics
BMW ConnectedDrive-Assist
CD changer
Cruise control
Extended storage
& Seat heating. front

Anything missing?

Sorry, I am used to Porsches and there are some extra's like PCM & PASM that really affect the resale value etc

Thanks

Is it a roadster? Wind deflector is worth it, if so. Other than that, it's good spec.

The Sat-Nav adds quite a bit to resale so could be ideal when selling on in the future. The bluetooth integration I've found very handy and I'm also glad mine has the Logic 7 stereo, I've not heard the standard stereo but it's apparently not very good if you like your music.

Hmmm, interesting. Can that be fitted after market? I.e I request the dealer to fit as part of the deal?

Hmm, I'm not sure ... The Logic 7 has system has extra speakers, including some behind the seats, as well as some additional amplifiers etc, I doubt it would be easy but you never know.

Nano 2nd: I'm also in Leicester and have an Interlagos Z4M, will keep an eye out for you driving

I would really doubt it, it'll require different speakers, amps and possibly wiring.

Yes, the standard system is fairly poor if you like your music.

If you want to upgrade then it would be cheaper to go to a professional aftermarket installer and get a totally different system fitted (amp + speakers + and another device to link to existing nav system). I have a firm locally (South west london) that have done previous cars for me and the results were amazing, but then your looking at a couple of grand for a couple of speaks, amp, sub and fitting... However they have told me the Z4m is a pain to work on so fitting could be a far chunk of money (cheaper than what BMW would charge mind!) and you need said device above as you can't change the head unit... They recon they would need the car for 3-5 days...

So I have decided to enjoy the sound of the engine for now.. smile

I'm not sure there any options that are must haves, I deliberately didn't go for the Sat Nav. I do like the Piano black trim, and upgraded sound system is decent

Rear visibility isn't great - does it have the rear parking sensors?

I find these quite useful.

Thanks for the feedback guys, will need to look into that.

No rear parking sensors, I have yet to drive one. What is the rear view like for parking etc.

Logic 7 was a must for me a bit like sat Nav was on the E46 M3. However you will tend to find cars will be priced according to spec. Just like porsche.smile Personnaly I have the Sat Nav don't use it much, like the monitor for the rest of the stuff and Logic 7 is the best system I've heard so many speakers in such a small cabin make a big difference. O'h and its a bugger to retrofit..

Forgot to mention there are 3 sound packages. Std, loudspeaker upgrade and Logic 7.
The cost when new was Loudspeaker £400 and Logic 7 £800 + vat.

Yeah DSP/Logic 7 is a must but I would also argue that Nav is the most saught after option on the used market. No nav cars are always a bit cheaper.

Logic 7 all the way and bluetooth for me, after that sat nav. PDC next to useless in my opinion as it`s only at the rear and you`re practically sat on the rear axle with no overhang. Now if they put it on the front that would actually have been worth it.

Rear PDC seems to be standard, but you don't really need it as you can see quite well at low speeds as the spoiler marks the rear of the car.

Front PDC would be great (wasn't offered as an option, so not available) as you can't see the last 4ft of the bonnet/bumper.

Logic 7 is OK but not worth paying much of a premium for. None of the Z4 in car audio options are outstanding and the problem with the Logic 7 is that it is more difficult to mod if you want a great sounding system. It makes it a little more difficult to add an Intravee too if you are thinking of adding an Ipod.

Use the lack of Logic 7 as a bargaining point but don't let a lack of it put you off.

Choosing any Z4M will of cours give you the ultimate in aural delight as you take the car beyond 4500 rpm in which case you have your stereo off anyway. smile
