M3 E46 tax band

Hey Everyone,

Sorry to bring this up again but the other thread i was reading regarding m3 tax was a bit confusing. I will be purchasing an E46 M3 (04-06) soon and i just wanted to know what tax band E46 M3 exactly falls under.

According to parkers:
Rates effective from 1 May 2009
Date of Registration 12 Months Band CO2 (g/km)
15 Mar 2001 – 23 Mar 2006 £215.00 K 287-323
23 Mar 2006 – 29 May 2006 £405.00 M 323

Rates effective from April 2010
Date of Registration 12 Months Band CO2 (g/km)
15 Mar 2001 – 23 Mar 2006 £245.00 K 287-323
23 Mar 2006 – 29 May 2006 £435.00 M 323

To all current 04-06 M3 owners, how accurate is this information?

According to the dvla site:

Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001

Petrol car (TC48) and diesel car (TC49)
Band CO2 emission (g/km) 12 months rate
K* 201-225 £215.00
L 226-255 £405.00
M Over 255 £405.00

• Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006

This would mean E46 M3 registered prior to March 2006 would fall under K band. I am right in assuming this?

I will purchase an M3 04-06 regardless of whether it falls under K or M band but just not knowing all the details is what i don't like.

My tax runs out this month so will be buying 12 mths now which will run out jan 2011 before the next bloody increase in april i suppoe.

Just taxed mine, 215 for the year and the car is a December 2005 registration
