I have decided to keep my car a little longer as I don't think I can face driving the replacement I was looking at a 335d.

AS such i need some new tyres on the standard wheels..at the moment I have Continental OEM M3 tyres

Having looked at reviews especially in Evo the tyres I am contemplating are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta and Conti Contisport Contact 3 (or stick with the OEM).

All my driving to date is on the road (mixed between motorway, urban and some cross country) and I drive around 15k per year.

I would welcome your thoughts as to which tyres you think would be best?

Cheers B

It seems the Vredesteins get very good reviews from many Z4 owners.

You'll also not go wrong with the good old Michelan Pilot Sport II. I've yet to experience a better all round tyre, but they do come at a price.

Thanks the Vredesteins are definate contenders (although heard they are better in the wet than the dry)and the Michelins are too pricey for me.

Anyone had any experience of the other tyres?

Only some to avoid: Avon ZZ3's. As soon as I've ruined those on a driver training day I'm getting the Vredestein's.

Sage advice.

Looks like the GY Eagle F1 AS are also well rated on the Z4.

I'm going to be replacing the Conti's on my M3 with the Vredesteins next week, can let you know what they're like if you wish. Only doing the rears though for now.

I've been going through a few tyres with my mates e92 M3 for the tyre site, haven't tried the Vred's yet so would be good to know.

The Vredesteins are great tyres. I've been running them on my MC for 2 years.

Recently I have tried another brand and some elements are better some worse but interestingly my fuel consumption has imroved by 10% and braking distances in the dry have been cut by 15-20%.

The Vredesteins are good but they do have weaknesses.

Don't keep us in suspense with the tyre... smile

Oh, and 20% dry braking is a REMARKABLE claim!! That's a greater difference than between a ditch finder and a premium tyre like an Eagle F1!

I think it's also a little bigger than I measured on track between a Toyo T1R and a super hot sticky road legal slick so perhaps it just feels like 15-20% biggrin

I am too embarrassed to admit the tyres I bought!

OK maybe I exaggerated a little. :-) But fuel consumption has definitely improved by at least 5%. Part of being a little anal I guess!

Braking distances - OK 15-20% may be a little OTT but the difference is dramatic. Honestly.

And thank you for your "sorry" prior to telling me I am a cock! ;-)

A little OTT? Unless you've gone from Wingwongs to a pre-heated qualifier slick I think the braking estimation is WAY OTT biggrin

jon - don't get me wrong I have raved about the Sessanta before they were popular but having now swapped but to a regular main stream tyre there are obvious improvements in fuel consumption and dry braking distances.

Anyway - I don't want to argue. I am just saying my experience.

All the best.

It would be good to know what tyres they are ... so I can make an educated decision about which ones to go for

Has anyone tried the Dunlop Sport Maxxs's? I was thinking of these or the Goodyear Eagle F1 A's for my next ones.
