I am looking for an after market exhaust that releases more of the gorgeous straight six sound but that doesn't drone on the motorway... Is there such a thing?

Cheers

Anyone got any experience of these exhausts (not the standard one ;-))?

I would highly recommend Prospeed in Cardiff. They will make you a full stainless system with free flow cats. They will also give you an opportunity to specify what sort of sound levels you want. Worth a call, otherwise Supersprint are good and not overly loud. Depends what you want!?

I'm looking for an exhaust that is quiet when cruising (steady throttle) and loud when I give open her up a bit..

The Supersprints seem to sound the most throaty. I should imagine they're available in different flavours too:

Based on TVR experiance a decat may be the answer. The TVR always past it's MOT as well.... Do you think the ///M would?

NTL on here used to make decat pipes... Might be worth giving him a shout

I've got a Blueflame exhaust on my 330i and it is an excellent 'daily driver' exhaust. There's a slight boom at 2000rpm but otherwise it's quality noise over quantity.

Hayward and Scott in Basildon will make one that sounds however you want it to. IIRC they made Sixspeed's exhaust, but they can do a quieter one.

There are a few of us with the Remus back boxes - good value at around £800 or so.

Nice subtle burble. Not too noisy and not too quiet! No droning.

If you want to order I can PM you where I bought mine - discounted and cheap fitting. I paid £650 including fitting but that was 2 years ago.

I have run a decat pipe and failed an mot with it, the fumes out the back absolutely stank!! Much better with sport cats plus no MOT drama.

I`m thinking I might go Rogue Engineering Diablo. Not too in your face and good value for money.

Standard exhaust is great .... but listening you can tell any aftermarket one would have to be good not to be boomy !

There is no way I would change the standard one .... aside from the fact hardly anyone makes one and those that do are bloody expensive ..... smile
